The New Enterprise Allowance is a fund available to support unemployed people who are looking to become self employed with their own business. The grant is available as a weekly allowance over a 26 week period. Eligibility depends on you receiving benefits such as JSA, UC or SA.
The scheme is great for anyone who has been out of work for a considerable length of time as it can help them to get back on their feet and become independent. The grant also includes mentoring and guidance in setting up your business.

The National Youth Agency offer a grant programme in collaboration with O2 to offer funding to young people aged 17-24 who have come up with innovative ways to use digital technology to provide solutions to environmental issues such as recycling and reducing waste. The grant also includes mentoring and work experience.

The Patent Box Scheme enables companies to apply a lower rate of Corporation Tax to profits earned from its patented inventions. It has enabled some profitable Startup and small companies to nearly halve their Corporation Tax bill. To apply, your business must make a profit from exploiting patented inventions. Your company must own or exclusively licence in the patents.
The Prince’s Countryside Fund recognise that rural communities face a range of challenges. One way in which they overcome this is through a grant programme. The grant scheme is open to applications from individuals and businesses who support activities that result in long term positive impact on rural communities.

The Newton Fund provides funding for workshops, research and travel. Grants for improving lives
The Improving Lives program aims to fund socially focused organisations working with people who have overcome some form of difficulties in their lives and built up resilience; the program area is limited to Scotland. Most relevant to businesses in the education, therapeutic or other industries.

The scheme offers both medium and large grants. Its limited to Wales and is open to not for profit companies and organisations.
